DESCRIPTION

The two plants of Lynetten and Damhusaen and their sewer systems are modelled to improve wet-weather management and to reduce solids discharge into the sea.

Within this project, several activities have been performed by WATERWAYS using WEST for the Lynetten WWTP (700,000 PE) and the Damhusaen WWTP (300,000 PE): model assessment, improvement and implementation of upgrade options; sensitivity analysis of operational parameters; connection with data from the sewer models which are made by Rambøll using MIKE.

A model to simulate aeration tank settling (ATS) mode was realized and implemented for the two plants. The ATS model is able to reproduce the expected behaviour and to show the benefits of ATS with regard to TSS effluent.

A new empirical model was developed to simulate the TSS effluent of secondary settlers, especially problematic for the high values in some wet-weather events. Data was used from on-line sensors placed at the influent and effluent of the settlers.

A model was realized to transform the data coming from the sewer models into inputs to be fed to the WWTP models.
